​David Berney is the founding partner of ERGO Consultancy. He has a varied CV with experience of setting up and managing desks on both sides of the Asset Management/Broking divide.

Prior to setting up ERGO Consultancy he was a Pan European Sales Trader at Helvea where he was a significant shareholder before the firm got sold to Baader Bank of Germany to form Baader Helvea.

He also worked on the sell side at BNP Paribas, and Citigroup (formerly Salomon Brothers, where the FIX protocol originates from) and before that he was Head of Fixed Income trading at Instinet when electronic equity trading was still in its infancy and electronic fixed income trading was almost unheard of.

His buy side experience comes from Citibank Private Banking where he set up the centralised dealing desk from scratch including everything from educating portfolio managers who previously placed their own orders of the benefits of a centralised function to designing the procedures required to pass regulatory and internal bank audit approval.

Outside the City he established and runs a business teaching owner/managers of SME’s to increase turnover and profitability and races historic mini's.

David graduated from London Business School Investment Management Program in 1994, is registered CF30 with the FSA and is highly conversant with the latest regulatory thinking.
