Ergo Consultancy is a specialist advisory firm focused entirely on trading and execution operating models across the buy side. We work with asset managers, asset owners, hedge funds and wealth managers to help them design, review and operate trading functions that are robust, defensible and aligned with how markets actually work.
Our work spans in-house trading, outsourced and co-sourced models, Best Execution oversight and transaction cost analysis. We are independent, practitioner-led and focused on how execution decisions are made in practice, not in theory.
Outsourced trading has become a more established part of the buy-side operating landscape, but it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We advise clients on whether outsourcing is appropriate, how it should be structured, and how providers should be selected and overseen. Ergo works closely with The Trade and Global Custodian on the annual Outsourced Trading Survey, which has become the most downloaded digital report on The Trade website. The survey provides a detailed view of how the market is evolving and how outsourced trading providers are assessed by users in practice.
Best Execution is often treated as a reporting exercise, focused on thresholds and outliers. In reality, it is a continuous process that combines trading judgement, data, governance and oversight. We help firms review and strengthen their Best Execution frameworks, ensuring that policies, processes and evidence reflect what actually happens on the trading desk.
Our work supports traders, compliance teams and senior managers by providing proportionate, independent oversight that stands up to regulatory scrutiny and due diligence, while improving execution quality over time.
Transaction Cost Analysis sits at the centre of execution oversight, broker evaluation and regulatory evidence. Selecting the right TCA provider is therefore a strategic decision rather than a purely technical one. We also support trading desk build and rebuild projects.
